Antique Victorian Art Nouveau or Art Deco gold plated brass encased bottle. The brass bottle has a cob web with butterfly caught in web on both sides. Early 1800 - 1900's - very unusual. Measures 2 1/4 inches tall and 1 3/16" wide. The lid has a tiny hold that probably once held a small chain. The glass is not broken. It appears as if it could have been a poison bottle, but you can still detect a perfume scent inside. So small it will fit in your pocket and actually lays flat, not meant to stand alone. Metal is gold over brass but has aged with time. It may have been gold plated, but I have not had tested. I have not attempted to clean it, I prefer my collections it its natural form showing it hasn't been tampered with. Was purchased in a small antique shop on Dixie Hwy in 1980 in Louisville, KY. Shop is long since gone. Back then, the owner said it was very old. I've not personally seen another one except on Worthpoint only. I've had for 40 years in my collection. Watch for more of my collection in the future, I have well over 1200 antique mostly miniature bottles. That's a lot of listings. Shipping is free except overseas.
