c1863-1900 Paris: COCA / VIN MARIANI bottle, French predecessor of

* * * For the serious collector of Cola-Cola memorabilia! * * * Antique, original c1863-1900 Bottle ~ ~ ~ C O C A   M A R I A N I ~ ~ ~ [Vin Mariani] PARIS The bottle measures 9" in height and at its base is 3 1/4." In good, vintage condition. There is what appears to me to be slender, elongated vertical bubble about 2 1/2" long within the neck, a flaw created in the making. This is NOT a break or crack. The side of the bottle has the embossed wording "COCA MARIANI / PARIS" in letters about 3/8" height. (I assume that originally there may have been an additional paper label below this lettering.) On the base is the wording "COCA MARIANI / PARIS / FRANCE," plus an initial "E." NOTE: I have seen identical bottles with the additional embossed lettering "TRADEMARK REG IN U.S. PAT OFFICE." The bottle I am offering does NOT have this "U.S." lettering, and therefore it is my understanding that my bottle was produced in France! There is extensive information online about this legendary cocaine-infused product, which was developed in 1863 b y by Angelo Mariani (1838-1914), a French chemist from the island of Corsica. Today, it is infamous as being the inspiration for John Pemberton's 1885 Coca-Cola. I have owned this for about forty years, probably originally purchased at Brimfield.
