Fred Meyer, real name Fred Grubmeyer, came to Portland, Oregon in 1908, when he was 22 years old. His parents owned a grocery store. He first started by selling coffee to lumber camps and workers at farms in the area from his horse drawn wagon. In 1922, he opened his first store in Portland, at the corner of SW 5th and Yarnhill. He had a revolutionary idea, after listening to his customers on the coffee route. He would combine meat, milk and cheese, and produce under one roof. He would put an expert in each department. The stores are still in business today. This is a larger 16 oz. bottle of Coca Cola, celebrating "Fred Meyer Days Serving Customers in Oregon and Washington 1922-1981". The neck label states "75 Years of Refreshing Pacific Coca Cola Bottling Co.". The bottle is in near perfect condition, and the cap is good, as shown . Shipping for this bottle will be only $9.00, shipping to the west coast, with a zip code starting with "9", however is $12.00. If you purchase more of my many asst. bottles, I will ship them FREE with this one, when shipping them together.
