Star sand is a biogenic sand made of skeletons of tiny, mono-celled sea creatures belonging to the foraminifera group.

Once a year, the school children of Hatoma elementary and middle school, their parents, teachers and anyone who is involved in the community, collect the star sand to raise money for school activities by selling the sand.

After they collected the sand, they spend a full month to wash the sand clean, dry it under the sun, then sort out the star-shaped sand.

All items have been collected and resold legally

Sand is natural and may contain some other particles like tiny sticks, pieces of shell or other shaped sea skeletons in the family
