The Sanford Ink Company of Chicago, founded in 1857, is probably best known for creating and producing writing products, with the famous Paper Mate pen (1949) and the equally as famous Sharpie (1964). Prior to the success of their pens, Sanford was a well-established ink company and their ink bottles are popular with collectors everywhere. This attractive aqua, hand blown, cylindrical bottle is a very early Sanford, without the normally seen double ring neck; it has two seams that stop at the neck, not reaching the applied bead lip. It is just 2 1/4 inches tall and 1 7/8 inches wide, embossed on the base with SANFORD’s, in all capital letters, above the number 23. In very good condition, this beautiful bottle from the 1890s is free of cracks and chips. USED. Ships USPS Priority
