This is a vintage bottle of whole Cardamon seeds from John Wagner & Sons of 233 Dock Street in Philadelphia. It's 4 1/2 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches in diameter at the bottom. About 1/3 of the dried out seeds remain. The address is "Philadelphia 8", which dates the bottle from between 1943 when the 1 digit postal zones for cities started and 1963, when zip codes started. The manufacturer of the bottle has narrowed down the dates further. On the bottom is a raised "A" in a circle which means that the bottle was made by the Armstrong Cork Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Millville, New Jersey. From 1941 and 1946, they included a 2 digit date code on the base of their bottles, and the 47 on this bottle dates it to 1947. The label is toned with some small stains. The cork has broken off at the top, and it probably could not be removed without destroying it.
