Excellent condition, no cracks or repairs. In the early 1870's a man named Hiram Codd registered an idea with the British Patent Office for a bottle with a marble stopper. This was a new and effective way of sealing mineral water and soda bottles using the pressure of the effervescence in the liquid to force the marble against the upper ring of the neck of the bottle. The process was used for about 50 years until the early 1920's. The bottle is embossed on front with "J. Roberts Castleford" and a picture of a castle pillar, and "Codd's patent bottle - extra strong glass" on back, a paper seal showing the bottle was tested. The bottom of the bottle is marked “Made in India” and has several other embossed marks. This is a 10oz bottle and it is 9 1/5” tall. The bottle has a slight green tint.
